Description: Hibiscus or Jasud (G.) is commonly used in Portugal as an ornamental plant. Its flowers are also used in cooking and traditional medicine. The Hindu community uses the flowers and leaves of the Jasud (G.) in religious ceremonies known as pujas, namely as offerings to the gods Ganesh and Kali. The Puja is a religious ceremony honoring the deity, which includes offerings and services performed on various occasions such as births, weddings, protection of the house or the opening of a business.
