Description: Although the cassava root has a determining role in the economy and subsistence of the populations of the African countries, it has its origin in the Amazon region. It was taken to Africa by the Portuguese, where it had a decisive role in the subsistence of slavery, becoming the staple for the slaves in Brazil and in the African countries dominated by Portugal. (*)
Not being frequently planted in the neighborhood of Quinta da Vitória, due to its difficulty in adapting to Mediterranean zones, it was indicated by Inácio, as it is worth mentioning in the context of this archive, since it is the staple for many residents in the Quinta da Victoria, particularly of Angolan origin.
